MARIANNE FISET AT TORONTO’S LUMINATO
FESTIVAL
Montreal, June 6, 2007 – Marianne Fiset,
who was just recently named the First Grand Prize Winner of the
Montreal International Musical Competition, Voice 2007, will
sing at Toronto’s Luminato Festival this Friday, June 8, at 8
p.m. in a concert performance entitled Luna. Marianne Fiset,
replacing soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian, will appear alongside
sopranos Adrianne Pieczonka and Sondra Radvanovsky, tenor
Richard Margison, and baritone Russell Braun. The Toronto
Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Giordano Bellincampi,
will accompany them. The concert programme will feature a
dazzling array of moving arias and ensembles from some of the
best-known operas in the repertoire.
The concert will be broadcast live on CBC
Radio Two’s Canada Live (93.5 FM in Montreal), hosted by Bill
Richardson.
For one night only, history will be made at Roy Thomson Hall as
Luna – celebrating the star of the night – presents an opera
lover's feast… an evening of celestial fireworks! For more

IIn addition to the prestigious First Grand Prize at the MIMC,
Marianne Fiset also won the Jean A. Chalmers Award (for the Best
Canadian Artist), the Poulenc French Song Award, the People’s
Choice Award (“Tribute to Léopold Simoneau”), and the Joseph
Rouleau Award (for the Best Artist from Quebec). In the context
of this last prize, she will soon be giving two recitals, in
London on June 25, and in Paris on June 30. The concert in Paris
is at the invitation of Mr. Christian Poncelet, President of the
French Senate, as part of “Musique Sénat” – a series of concerts
organized to promote talented young artists and ensembles. These
concerts are made possible thanks to the collaboration of the
Délégations générales du Québec in London and in Paris.
