Louise-Andrée Baril
Louise-Andrée Baril pursues a very active
solo and chamber music career. She performs regularly in Canada,
the United States, Mexico, South America and Europe. For three
years, she was the pianist of the popular television program
Faites vos gammes on CBC French Television, hosted by the
violinist Angèle Dubeau. Louise-Andrée Baril has long been
recognized as one of Canada’s most accomplished musicians.
Martin
Dubé
Martin Dubé studied piano at Université
Laval, McGill University and the Manhattan School of Music,where
he studied vocal coaching and accompaniment with Warren Jones.
He has served as accompanist for master classes given by such
renowned singers as Elly Ameling, Sherrill Milnes, Marilyn
Horne, Marlena Malas, Licia Albanese and Renata Scotto. Since
September, 2000, he has been the coach for the Atelier lyrique
of l’Opéra de Montréal and artistic co-director of the Quebec
Chamber Music Society. He was on the faculty at the renowned
Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School of Music, and
he has worked for the Opera Company of Philadelphia.and San
Diego Opera. Since 1995 Mr. Dubé has been coach-in-residence at
the Chautauqua Institution in New York. His artistic
associations have taken him to Mexico, Italy, Turkey, the United
States and across Canada.
Olivier
Godin
Montreal-born Olivier Godin is a graduate of the Montreal
Conservatoire, where he studied with Raoul Sosa and received the
Prix avec grande distinction. He also studied piano with
Jerome Lowenthal, chamber music with Suzanne Blondin and organ
with Jean LeBuis. Olivier Godin was recently appointed to the
faculty of the Montreal Conservatoire. He is also a rehearsal
pianist at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and
piano accompanist at the Faculty of Music at the Université de
Montréal. He has served as rehearsal pianist for such conductors
as Charles Dutoit, Franz-Paul Decker, Yannick Nézet-Séguin,
Joseph Rescigno and Alexis Hauser. In master classes he has
played for Marilyn Horne and Thomas Hampson. Since 2001, Mr.
Godin has concertized regularly from one end of the country to
the other under the aegis of Jeunesses Musicales of Canada.
Esther
Gonthier
Born in Lévis, Esther Gonthier has a
reputation as one of the most versatile pianists in Canada,
pursuing a busy career as rehearsal pianist, concert pianist and
voice coach. With more than eighty operas in her repertory, she
is much in demand in the world of vocal music. She works
regularly for the Opéra de Montréal, and the Montreal Symphony,
and with renowned conductors like Kent Nagano, Michel Plasson,
Eliahu Inbal, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Charles Dutoit and Bernard
Labadie. In addition, Ms. Gonthier enjoys passing on her
knowledge and experience to the younger generation. She works as
vocal coach for the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique, at the
music faculties of McGill University and the Université de
Montréal, and at the Montreal Conservatoire, where she is
currently co-director of the opera studio.
Michael McMahon
Pianist and vocal coach Michael McMahon
studied at McGill University with Charles Reiner. He completed
his studies in Vienna at the Franz Schubert Institute and the
Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst, and in Salzburg at
the International Summer Academy held at the Mozarteum. Michael
McMahon maintains an active performing schedule. He has
performed throughout Canada, Europe and the USA with the best
singers. At McGill, where he is currently an associate professor,
Michael McMahon teaches in both the Voice and Piano areas. He
also teaches English and German diction for singers and is a
vocal repertoire coach. He has made numerous broadcast
recordings for the English and French networks of the CBC, as
well as for the BBC, RBTF, Radio Suisse Romande and Radio
France.
Francis Perron
Born in Sherbrooke, Francis Perron completed
his training at the Faculty of Music of the Université de
Montreal and at the University of Music and the Performing Arts
in Vienna. As piano accompanist, he has collaborated with
numerous renowned musical institutions, including the Montreal
Symphony, the Wintherthur Zurich Conservatory, the Freiburg
Conservatory, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec and
the Orford Arts Centre.
