Avan Yu was born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver.
Last season, he made his debuts in Austria, England,
Slovakia, Italy, and Holland, as well as recital debuts
at the Chopin Festivals in Montreal and Toronto and the
prestigious Rheingau and Bad Kissingen Music Festivals
in Germany. In the fall of 2009, he performed as soloist
with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa under
the baton of Pinchas Zukerman, followed by a
duo-performance with Yo-Yo Ma. He toured with Jeunesses
Musicales of Canada in 2007-2008.
