Over the course of her impressive
career, Soprano Renata Scotto has sung over 45 different
operas in the company of the greatest singers and
directors, on the most important stages of the world.
Many audio and video recordings allow us to enjoy a
remarkable artist, both as an actress and a vocalist.
She has won numerous awards, including an Emmy Award.
She continues to add to her activity as stage director,
which she began with a Metropolitan Opera debut in 1986,
staging Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. She now
stages operas around the world.
Ms. Scotto has presented select master classes at The
Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, Yale University,
the Russian Opera Center in Moscow, Tokyo University,
Pittsburgh Opera, Opéra Bastille, the Lyric Opera of
Chicago's American Artists Program, the young artists
programs at the Metropolitan Opera and at La Scala in
Milan, and for the Santa Cecila Academy in Rome where
she is a permanent guest professor. In 2001, she also
joined the Mannes School in New York as a visiting
professor and consultant to the vocal department.
In July 1997, she opened the Renata Scotto Vocal Academy
on the Italian Riviera and in June 2003, she inaugurated
a new branch of her Academy at the Westchester Music
Conservatory in New York.
