Career development programme*
In 2008, the World Federation of
International Music Competitions (WFIMC) gave a 20.000 CHF grant
to the MIMC. The Competition was chosen by the WFIMC, following
a call for candidates from among its 124 members, to receive
funds from a new allocation programme for special projects. This
contribution allowed the MIMC to develop a training programme to
support its First Prize winners, supplying them with tools to
help them deal with challenges related to today’s cultural
reality. In light of the dazzling success of this new venture,
the MIMC is taking the initiative to ensure that this programme returns on an annual basis.
This programme includes a series of workshops during which
artists will meet with various parties involved in the world of
performing arts and classical music: artist representatives,
record producers, communications professionals, etc. Artists
will also have the opportunity to work with Web professionals
(in order to develop a personalized Website), and with a
specialized photographer. They can also benefit from the advice
of a fashion designer. At the end of the training period,
artists will have developed tools to help identify career
opportunities and risks, and to increase their credibility among
various key players in the world of music. The laureate could
also choose to use this prize, wholly or in part, to record a CD
with a canadian label.
* Must be accepted under terms of the
Competition, and may in no case be transferred to another person,
or exchanged for money. The artist can benefit from this program
within one year after winning the prize.
