APPLICATION
Eligibility
The 2008 Piano Edition is open to young pianists from all
countries who intend to pursue a professional career in music.
It is open to men and women of all nationalities who, on January
1, 2008, are 30 years old or less.
Selection process
The 2008 Competition consists of four rounds: preliminary,
quarter-final, semi-final and final. Candidates must present a
different repertoire for each of the four rounds.
Preliminary round
Three selection committees, appointed by Competition officials,
will choose the quarter-finalists after conducting a blind
audition and reviewing the applications of the sound recordings
submitted by the candidates.
All candidates must submit a duly-completed entry form and a
high-quality sound recording (preferably CD or Mini Disc;
standard cassette tapes and DVDs will not be accepted). This
recording must be carried out without any sound design.

Quarter final
round - from May 20 to 22, 2008
An international jury, appointed by Competition officials, will
listen to the quarter finalists and select those who are to
proceed to the semi-final round. Each quarter -finalist will
perform a recital of no more than 45 minutes, open to the
general public.

Semi-final round -
May 23 and 24, 2008
An international jury, appointed by Competition officials, will
listen to the semi-finalists and select those who are to proceed
to the final round. Each semi-finalist will perform a recital of
no more than 45 minutes, open to the general public.

Final round -
May 26 and 27, 2008
In this round, the candidates will be accompanied by the
Orchestre M?ropolitain du Grand Montr?l in a concert open to
the general public.
Following the final round, the president of the jury will
announce the winners of the Montreal International Musical
Competition.

Gala concert -
May 29, 2008
The prizewinners will be invited to perform with the Orchestre
M?ropolitain du Grand Montr?l in the gala concert, a high-profile event that will bring the Competition to a close.
The programme, which may include selections from the four
rounds, will be decided by Competition officials.
Prizes
The Competition awards three (3) prizes and special prizes (in
Canadian dollars). Engagements may also be offered to the
winners or finalists:
