VIOLIN 2010: AND THE LAUREATES ARE ...
Montreal, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 – The MIMC announces the three Laureates of the 2010 Violin edition:
FIRST PRIZE ($30,000): Benjamin BEILMAN, United States
SECOND PRIZE ($15,000): Korbinian ALTENBERGER, Germany
THIRD PRIZE ($10,000): Nikita BORISOGLEBSKY, Russia
Added to the First Prize are: The Career development programme, valued at $20,000, the recording of a CD offered by Analekta and a bow from Atelier Raffin, valued at $5,500.
These three violinists will appear in the Winners’ Gala Concert this Friday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts. Under the direction of Jean-Philippe Tremblay, the Orchestre Métropolitain will accompany the winners.
The names of the winners of the Special Awards will be revealed on Friday, June 4, during the official awards ceremony preceding the Gala Concert.

Radio-Canada’s music radio network, Espace musique, is proud to be the official broadcaster of the Montreal International Musical Competition. New this year: all the rounds (Quarter finals, Semi-finals and Finals) were broadcast live, image and sound, on the Internet. The videos will be posted for one year at www.radio-canada.ca/musique.
In addition to these live broadcasts, the Final round will be heard internationally, thanks to Radio-Canada’s partnership with the European Broadcasting Union.
