Montreal, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 – The Montreal International Musical Competition announces the names of the 3 winners of the 2012 Voice edition. The names of the winners of the Special Awards will be revealed on Friday, June 8, during the official awards ceremony preceding the Gala Concert:
FIRST PRIZE – $30,000
PHILIPPE SLY, BASS-BARITONE, CANADA
Added to the First Prize is the Career development programme, valued at $20,000.
SECOND PRIZE – $15,000
OLGA KINDLER, SOPRANO, SWITZERLAND
THIRD PRIZE – $10,000
JOHN BRANCY, BARITONE, UNITED STATES
These three laureates will appear in the Winners’ Gala Concert this Friday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Maison symphonique de Montréal. Under the direction of Alain Trudel, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will accompany the winners. The musical programme will be released one day prior to the concert on the Competition’s Website.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8: BRIGITTE SAINT-AUBIN
Singer-songwriter Brigitte Saint-Aubin is a multidisciplinary artist. Accompanied by highly talented multi-instrumentalist Jean-François Groulx (Bori, Louise Forestier), she performs songs from her first two albums, as well as a few new pieces.
