Born to a family of
musicians, Marcus Tanneberger began studying violin at
the age of three-and-a-half and gave his first recital
at the age of five. The following year, he took
part in the Jugend musiziert Competition and was awarded
the highest marks. In 2001 he won first prize at the
Louis Spohr International Competition, third prize at
the Yehudi
Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists
in 2002, an award of distinction at the International Violin Competition Leopold-Mozart, and first prize at
the Jugend musiziert Competition in 2004. He has been a
guest soloist with numerous orchestras, among them the
Rundfunkorchester, the Weimar State Orchestra, the Franz
Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Weimar and the Munich Youth
Orchestra. Marcus Tanneberger performed Bach’s Triple
Concerto with Igor Oistrakh and Andreas Lehmann at the
Bach Festival of Weimar in September 2003.
