It
was with great pride and pleasure that I accepted to serve as
spokesperson for this 5th edition of the Montreal International
Musical Competition (MIMC), dedicated to my favourite
instrument, the violin.
An international competition is clearly an exceptional
springboard for any
young musician aspiring to a solo career. Competition is fierce,
and this virtual must along the road to success is an
unparalleled opportunity to showcase one’s talent and earn quick
recognition. I look back on that time
of my life as one that allowed me to amass a wealth of
experience, to meet colleagues who shared my passion, to broaden
my professional horizons and, in short, to fulfil my dreams.
That is why I find myself so drawn to the MIMC and to all it has
accomplished in so short a time. This Competition
rewards its laureates not only by recognizing their exceptional
talent, but also by opening up doors for them all over the world
by virtue of its partnerships with numerous institutions. These
opportunities are of incalculable value to any young violinist
and often result in the birth of solid, lasting careers. Success
can only be achieved through hard work, perseverance and
determination!
On that note, I wish to highlight the dedicated and relentless
efforts of
the young violinists we will have the pleasure of hearing over
the coming days. It is impossible to remain unmoved in the face
of these young musicians, whose quest for excellence has brought
them here to enrich our collective soul.
In closing, I wish to congratulate the Competition team for its
devoted and steadfast pursuit of the mission to promote,
recognize and reward artistic excellence. Come one and all to
encourage these young musicians who strive day after day for the
noble cause of self-surpassment. Long live the MIMC and best of
luck to all of the competitors!
