24 EXCEPTIONAL VIOLINISTS SELECTED FOR  VIOLIN 2023  

A new generation of virtuosos  

 

The Concours Musical International de Montréal reveals its selection of the world’s most outstanding violinists of the new generation. These 24 candidates have been invited to participate in the CMIM Violin edition, taking place from April 22 to May 4, 2023. These talented violinists between the ages of 17 and 27, from 11 different countries, including two from Canada, will compete to share in nearly $160,000 in prizes and awards.    

The CMIM received 248 applications from 37 countries, a record for a Violin edition. The notoriety of the CMIM has attracted the most exceptional players for this promising Violin 2023 edition, who are not only astounding technical players, but already complete musical artists.

Discover the Mini Violini!   

On April 22 and 23 (both days at 2 pm), five extraordinary child prodigies will open the Violin edition 2023.  

April 22 (2 pm), the Mini Violini will perform with pianist Carson Becke.  

April 2023 (2 pm) each violinist will perform a movement from a concerto by Mozart or Vivaldi, with the Orchestre de l’Agora (OA), under the direction of Nicolas Ellis.

 

The concerts will be hosted by Mario Paquet.

First round and Semi-final  

  

The first round (April 25, 26, and 27) and the semi-final (April 29 and 30) will be held at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ Bourgie Hall with afternoon (2 pm) and evening (7:30 pm) sessions each day.   

  

The final will take place on May 3 and 4, both at 7:30 pm at the Maison symphonique de Montréal. The guest conductor maestro Rafael Payare will conduct the CMIM’s official orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) for both evenings of the final.
