PRESIDENT of the JURY<\/h2>\n

A member of the grand jury of the Concours musical international de Montr\u00e9al for the Violin 2006 and Violin 2023 editions, Montreal-born violinist Lucie Robert deepens her association with the CMIM by chairing the jury for the Violin 2026 edition.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Violinist Lucie Robert, a native of Montreal, has received enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics alike for the expressive lyricism and tonal beauty of her playing.\u00a0 Lauded in the The New York Times for her \u201cmelting tone\u201d and \u201cwonderfully supple approach to phrasing,\u201d Lucie Robert carries on the great violin tradition of her teacher and mentor, the legendary Josef Gingold.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Highly sought after as a violin pedagogue, Lucie Robert has been a violin professor at the Manhattan School of Music since 1988, and in 2023 was the recipient of the President\u2019s Medal for Distinguished Service, the highest award bestowed by the school. She is also a member of the violin faculty at the Mannes College of Music. Lucie Robert has given masterclasses throughout the world at prestigious institutions such as Seoul National University, Korea National University of the Arts, Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Tokyo College of Music, Franz Liszt Academy of Music Budapest, Hochschule f\u00fcr Music und Tanz K\u00f6ln, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, Sibelius Academy, Norwegian Academy of Music, the Glenn Gould School and the Conservatoire de musique de Montreal.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lucie Robert has been a member of the jury at numerous international competitions including the Montreal, Fritz Kreisler, Kumho, J\u00f3zsef Szigeti, Seoul, Joseph Joachim, Isang Yun, Jean Sibelius, Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists, and the Global Music Education League Violin Competition in Beijing.\u00a0 In the past several years, she has given lectures on violin technique and her teaching philosophy.\u00a0 A frequent contributor to the \u201cViolin Channel,\u201d her recent article \u201cPlay from your heart, exploring expressive fingerings\u201d was featured in The Strad magazine.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A prize winner of the First Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Austria, Lucie Robert has appeared as recitalist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Far East. She has performed over thirty different works as violin soloist with major orchestras throughout North America, as well as numerous recital appearances with her duo partner, pianist Jeffrey Cohen. Lucie Robert has also collaborated in chamber music with artists such as Menahem Pressler, Richard Goode, Claude Frank, Philippe Entremont and Isidore Cohen.\u00a0 An active participant in the summer music festival scene, Lucie Robert has been a guest artist or faculty member at festivals such as Bowdoin, the American Conservatoire at Fontainebleau, Meadowmount, Orford, Busan Music Festival, Hida-Takayama Festival, Texas Music Festival, MusicAlp Academy, Schlossakademie Hamburg, Weimar Master Classes at the Franz Liszt Academy, European Music Institute Vienna, and the Ishikawa Music Academy.<\/p>\n
