Finnish pianist Antti Siirala<\/strong> has established himself as one of the finest pianists of his generation. His rich palette of sound colours, his differentiated and songful phrasing, and his expressive intelligence are frequently praised. Antti Siirala is the winner of numerous international competitions, including the Leeds International Piano Competition. In 1997, he won the International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna as the youngest laureate in its history. This resulted in the performance of the complete Beethoven piano works at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the following years, and a focus on Beethoven in Siirala’s repertoire.<\/span><\/p>\n

Antti Siirala performs with renowned conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Sakari Oramo, and with orchestras like the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Radio Symphony orchestras of HR, NDR, SWR and WDR, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Wiener Symphoniker, the City of Birmingham Symphony, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Residentie Orkest, the Gothenburg Symphony, the Finnish Radio Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. He regularly performs chamber music with partners like Carolin Widmann, Baiba Skride, Lawrence Power, Tanja Tetzlaff, Jan Vogler, and Sharon Kam.<\/span><\/p>\n

Career milestones include recitals in the piano series of the Berliner Philharmoniker, at the Lucerne Festival and at the Ruhr Piano Festival, at concert halls like Cologne\u2019s Philharmonie, London\u2019s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam\u2019s Concertgebouw, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and Zurich\u2019s Tonhalle. Furthermore, Antti Siirala was artist in <\/span>residence for three years at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, featured in its series Junge Wilde<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recent highlights include debuts with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the W\u00fcrttembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as re-invitations to the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbr\u00fccken. This season, he returns to the Residentie Orkest for concerts in The Hague and Utrecht, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

His recordings, for which he has received Gramophone<\/em>\u2019s Editor’s Choice Award several times, have been released by Sony (Schubert’s Trout Quintet<\/em> with newly composed variations) and Naxos (works by Brahms and Schubert transcriptions). Other recordings include the last three Beethoven sonatas (AVI-Music) and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto <\/span>(Sony, with The Knights, Colin Jacobsen and Jan Vogler).<\/span><\/p>\n

Antti Siirala is professor of piano at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und Theater in Munich.<\/span><\/p>\n
