ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL JURY FOR ITS 2015 VOICE EDITION <\/strong><\/p>\n

Montreal, September 15, 2014 \u2014 <\/strong><\/strong>The Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) announces the names of its international jury members and the start of the application period for its 2015 Voice edition, which will run from May 25 to June 5. Starting today, young classical singers from around the world are invited to apply to participate in an outstanding experience in Montreal, while benefiting from the many opportunities afforded by this exceptional gateway to North America.<\/p>\n

INTERNATIONAL JURY<\/strong><\/p>\n

The chair of the jury for the 2015 Voice edition is Andr\u00e9 Bourbeau<\/strong>, cofounder and President of the MIMC, and the jury members are: artistic director and conductor David Agler<\/strong> (Canada); conductor Richard Bonynge<\/strong> (Australia); opera administrator and artistic consultant Brian Dickie<\/strong> (England); tenor Ben Heppner <\/strong>(Canada); baritone Wolfgang Holzmair<\/strong> (Austria); mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne<\/strong> (United States); bass Joseph Rouleau<\/strong> (Canada); mezzo-soprano Birgitta Svend\u00e9n<\/strong> (Sweden) and soprano Deborah Voigt<\/strong> (United States).<\/p>\n

REGISTRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rules and conditions, the required repertoire and the application form are posted on the MIMC website. The Competition will accept applications until December 15, 2014. Following a preliminary video-selection process, 24 singers will be invited to Montreal to take part in the quarter-final round. The selected candidates will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered under the terms and conditions of the Competition. Finalists and winners will perform at Maison symphonique with the Orchestre symphonique de Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n

The mission of the Montreal International Musical Competition is to discover and support young singers, violinists and pianists who demonstrate exceptional mastery of their art. The MIMC is the only international competition in North America to be held annually and to present three disciplines in a three-year rotation. Since its first edition dedicated to voice in 2002, more than 2,300 hopefuls have entered the competition and nearly 400 have performed in Montreal, much to the delight of music lovers. The MIMC is proud to enjoy the support of major artistic partners such as Radio-Canada and the Orchestre symphonique de Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n
