Baritone

 

2022: British baritone Michael Lafferty is set to make his Montréal debut at Voice 2022. Based in London, UK, he is currently a student of opera at the renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He made his operatic debut as Tarquinius in The Rape of Lucretia, and soon added to his repertoire enviable baritone roles like Figaro in The Barber of Seville and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus. In 2021 Lafferty sang under Sir John Eliot Gardiner at the Salzburg Festival, and joined the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields for Handel’s Messiah.

He recently took first prize in the Freda Parry Foundation Competition, the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition, and the Guildhall English Song Prize.
