JEAN-LUC MONGRAIN, SPOKESPERSON FOR THE
MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL COMPETITION

Montreal, March 25, 2014 – The Montréal International Musical Competition (MIMC) is extremely pleased to announce that Jean-Luc Mongrain will be the spokesperson for its 2014 Piano edition. A prominent personality on the Quebec media scene for over 30 years, Jean-Luc Mongrain is known and recognized by all. A journalist and star presenter, he has been active in all aspects of the media: radio, newspapers, magazines, and television.

Ms. Christiane LeBlanc, General and Artistic Director of the MIMC, states: “The entire Montréal International Musical Competition team is especially happy about Jean-Luc Mongrain’s involvement. His charisma and personality will no doubt appeal to a wide audience.”

“I am delighted to be joining forces with the MIMC. In so doing, I will have the privilege of sharing my passion for great music with all of you! I am inviting you to come out to encourage the candidates, and thereby do your part to contribute to the development and reputation of today’s finest young pianists,” declared Jean-Luc Mongrain.

Please note that the 2014 MIMC will be taking place from May 26 to June 6. Over a period of 10 days, Montreal will host some of the world’s best young pianists, most of whom are in their twenties. The Montreal International Musical Competition seeks to discover and support young singers, violinists, and pianists who have distinguished themselves as masters of their art. Presented by Hydro-Québec, the MIMC is proud to count on the support of such major arts partners as Société Radio-Canada and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
