This is an all-time high for a First Prize at the CMIM, increasing from $80,000 to $102,500 thanks to the generosity of valued partners.

Montreal, Thursday, June 7, 2018 – Earlier this evening, it was full house at Maison symphonique as the audience and international jury of the 2018 Voice edition witnessed the Aria Grand Finale of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM). After this final round sponsored by Power Corporation of Canada, the jury members gathered to deliberate and determine the winners of Voice 2018’s Art Song and Aria divisions.

20 singers from 12 nations advance to the Art Song and Aria semifinals 

Montreal, Friday, June 1st, 2018 – Between May 29 and 31, 38 singers from 20 nations participated in the First round of the Art Song and Aria divisions. The jury selected 8 semifinalists in the Art Song division and 12 semifinalists in the Aria division, representing together some 12 nations. Montreal, Monday, May 28, 2018 – This year, the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) will be premiering the new format of its Voice editions, now consisting of two divisions: Aria (voice and orchestra) and Art Song (voice and piano). From May 29 to June 7, 2018, the CMIM will host 38 singers from 21 nations who will vie for prizes, grants, and awards valued at a record amount of $270,000 CAD and attributed by a jury of eminent specialists presided by the renowned Zarin Mehta.

Canada leads the selection with eight singers

Montréal, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 – 38 promising young singers—20 women and 18 men between the ages of 24 and 35, from a record 22 nations—have been selected to participate in the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) next May 29 to June 7. Canada leads the selection with eight singers, followed by South Korea with six singers.

Montréal, December 19, 2017 – This past December 15, the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) received applications from 358 singers, resulting in the highest number of applicants in the history of the Competition. Up 190% from the previous voice edition in 2015, CMIM Voice 2018 received a total of 469 applications, 303 in the Aria division and 166 in the Art Song division, from 163 sopranos, 42 mezzo-sopranos, 60 tenors, 62 baritones, 13 bass-baritones, 11 basses and 7 countertenors.

Montreal, Friday, May 12, 2017 – The First Prize winner of the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) 2017 piano edition, Hungarian Zoltán Fejévári, and three past First Prize winners of the CMIM—soprano Measha Brueggergosman (2002), pianist Serhiy Salov (2004) and violinist Benjamin Beilman (2010)—performed for a full house at the Maison symphonique. They were accompanied by the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) led by conductor Claus Peter Flor. The gala highlighted the competition’s 15th anniversary and Montreal’s 375th. For this occasion, several key Montréal figures were in attendance, including CMIM spokesperson Robert Charlebois, actress Anne Dorval, and musician and host Grégory Charles.
